In the spring of 2018, the life of 19-year-old Destiny Orr-Clark, a Black/African American female from Davenport, Iowa, was tragically cut short. On May 4, 2018, just two days before her twentieth birthday, Orr-Clark was fatally shot in an act of violence that stemmed from a robbery. The incident unfolded in the early morning hours in the 1000 block of East 36th Street, where police responded to reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle stopped in the road and a man attempting to aid Orr-Clark, who had sustained gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Destiny Orr-Clark's death led to the identification and arrest of two suspects: Arthur Keith Lobley, then 26, and Craig W. Coleman Jr., who was 17 at the time of the incident. According to court documents, Lobley and Coleman robbed Orr-Clark while armed with a handgun. When Orr-Clark, who was a passenger in a vehicle, attempted to flee the scene, the two men pursued her in their own vehicle. They fired shots at the car she was in, striking and killing her.
In the subsequent legal proceedings, both men were brought to justice for their roles in the crime. Arthur Keith Lobley, who was already incarcerated on unrelated charges when he was charged in connection with Orr-Clark's murder, ultimately pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, robbery, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, theft, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to a total of up to 60 years in prison and was ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution. His co-defendant, Craig W. Coleman Jr., pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree theft and received a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
