In the summer of 2014, a dispute between cousins escalated into deadly violence at a Glendale, Arizona apartment complex, claiming the life of 18-year-old Elijah Williams. The fatal encounter unfolded on a Sunday when an argument between Williams and his cousin, Hailes Cole, over a gun took a violent turn. As tensions mounted, several individuals drew weapons and began shooting at one another.
During the exchange of gunfire, it is believed that Elijah Williams fired a weapon, injuring
another 18-year-old male who was subsequently hospitalized. In a tragic twist, 24-year-old Tyron Moore is alleged to have then fired his own weapon, striking and killing Williams. The firearm used in the fatal shooting was reportedly the very same gun that Williams had sold to Moore.
Authorities later revealed that Moore, a convicted sex offender from California, was legally prohibited from purchasing or possessing a firearm. In the aftermath of the shooting, Moore was taken into custody and faced charges of misconduct involving weapons, as well as an outstanding felony warrant. Glendale police and prosecutors also began the process of determining appropriate murder charges to file in connection with Elijah Williams' death.
