On a Christmas night in Phoenix, Arizona, what should have been a festive time turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of Daeshundric Crowder, a 21-year-old Black man. The incident, which also left another man injured, unfolded on December 25, 2022.
At approximately 10:14 p.m., the sound of numerous gunshots shattered the evening quiet in the area of 4500 East Riverside Street. Phoenix police officers rushed to the scene to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both were immediately transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, Crowder did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Detectives were called in to take over the investigation, which is being treated as a homicide. Preliminary information gathered by the police suggests that an argument may have preceded the shooting, though the specific details of what led to the gunfire remain under investigation.
As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting. The Phoenix Police Department and Silent Witness have appealed to the public for any information regarding the incident, with a reward of up to $2,000 being offered for tips that lead to an arrest.
