In the early morning hours of December 26, 2023, a shooting shattered the quiet of a Phoenix neighborhood. Inside his home near 39th and Northern avenues, 39-year-old Mark Maldonado was found by police suffering from a gunshot wound. Phoenix police officers responded to a call about the shooting at approximately 4:15 a.m. Paramedics from the fire department were dispatched to the scene to render aid, but Maldonado's injuries were too severe, and he died at his residence.
