In the warm evening of June 8, 2022, a dispute in Phoenix, Arizona, escalated to a fatal conclusion, claiming the life of 25-year-old Torry Taylor. The male victim was involved in a brief confrontation near the Black Canyon Highway and Bell Road. In the moments that followed the argument, Taylor was shot.
Wounded, he managed to walk to a nearby restaurant where he collapsed.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m., and the Phoenix Fire Department transported him to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Torry Taylor succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Witnesses at the scene reported that the person who shot Taylor fled the area on foot. An immediate search of the vicinity, aided by the police department's Air Unit, did not locate the suspect.
Phoenix Police detectives began an investigation, speaking with witnesses and processing the evidence at the crime scene. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect, 24-year-old Robert Hernandez. On June 28, 2022, nearly three weeks after the shooting, Hernandez was located and taken into custody. He was subsequently booked on multiple charges, including second-degree murder, in connection with the death of Torry Taylor.
