In the north valley of Phoenix, on a cool Tuesday evening, the life of 17-year-old Marki Terril Anthony, a Black male, was tragically cut short. Just after 9 p.m. on October 14, 2025, the sound of gunfire pierced the night near 12th Street and Bell Road, prompting calls to emergency services. When Phoenix police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the teenager suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
In the harrowing moments before first responders could reach him, a
resident walking their dog found Marki on the pavement and began administering CPR. They were soon joined by Marki's own mother, who took over the life-saving efforts. A friend of Marki's was reportedly nearby, stunned and unsure of what to do as neighbors tried to keep the young man conscious. Phoenix Fire Department crews arrived and quickly transported him to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of neighbors and medical personnel, the wound to his chest proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives from the Phoenix Police Department have taken over the investigation. They have been canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and any available surveillance footage that might show vehicles or people leaving the area around the time of the shooting. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified a motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been announced. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Silent Witness.
