On a warm evening in Phoenix on June 25, 2020, 18-year-old Josiah Brisco was at his home near 104th Avenue and Broadway Road. Around 9:00 p.m., a knock came at the door. After Brisco answered, a conversation was overheard, which was followed by the sound of a gunshot.
Josiah was found in front of his house with a gunshot wound. According to his mother, he was shot twice following an argument that his sister overheard from inside the home.
One report indicated that he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another report stated he was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries three days later, on June 27, 2020.
The Phoenix Police Department began an investigation into the shooting death of the young man. Despite their efforts, no suspect information was immediately available, and authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest. The case has remained unsolved, and as of late 2025, no arrests have been made. His mother has expressed her fear that his killer may never be found and has stated that the last update she received from investigators was over a year ago. She continues to seek justice for her son.
