On the evening of October 18, 2024, a verbal dispute among a group of acquaintances in west Phoenix escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 25-year-old Andrue Abraham Encizo. A Hispanic/Latino male, Encizo was at a residence near 86th Avenue and Minnezona Avenue when the argument broke out and gunfire erupted.
Following the shooting, family members rushed Encizo to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his gunshot wounds.
Phoenix police officers, responding to a 'shots fired' call around 7:05 p.m., discovered another man at the scene with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. This individual was transported to a hospital for treatment and was expected to recover.
Investigators detained multiple individuals who were at the home and transported them to police headquarters for questioning. After the interviews, all detained persons were released. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been formally charged in connection with Encizo's death. The Phoenix Police Department has stated that the investigation is ongoing, and a final decision on any charges will be made upon its completion. Detectives are continuing to process evidence from the scene.
