In the summer of 2019, a well-respected member of the Phoenix community, 45-year-old Dung Tang, lost his life in a violent act that sent ripples of shock and grief through the city. The male business owner was fatally wounded on the morning of June 5, 2019, during a robbery at his nail salon, a place of business he had built near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road. An armed assailant entered the salon and, in the course of the robbery, fired a weapon, striking Tang.
Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries the following day. Another woman, an employee at the salon, was present during the traumatic event but was fortunately not physically harmed.
The Phoenix Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation, seeking assistance from the public to identify the person responsible for this senseless act of violence. Their efforts led to a significant development in the case within a week. On June 12, 2019, authorities announced the arrest of a suspect, identified as Dwayne Jamerson.
