In the early morning hours of June 20, 2023, the life of 31-year-old Samuel Lamas Jr. was cut short in a fatal shooting in Phoenix, Arizona. The incident occurred around 5:10 a.m. in the area of 2200 East Thomas Road, where Phoenix police officers were dispatched after reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man, later identified as Lamas, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives were called to the location to begin a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the shooting. As part of their inquiry, investigators collected evidence from the scene, which included video surveillance from the surrounding area. Believing that there were likely multiple potential witnesses in the vicinity at the time of the homicide, the Phoenix Police Department made a public plea for assistance.
In an effort to generate leads, a portion of the surveillance video was released to the public in the hopes that someone might recognize the individuals seen in the footage around the time of the incident. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the people in the video or any other aspect of the case to come forward. A reward has been offered for information that leads to an arrest in the ongoing investigation.
