On June 20, 2023, at approximately 5:10 a.m., Phoenix police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 22nd Street and Thomas Road. Upon arrival, officers found a 31-year-old man, identified as Samuel Lamas Jr., with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of the responding officers, Lamas Jr. did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
