In the spring of 2020, the life of a 15-year-old Hispanic male named Manuel Gijon-Villa, also known online as Uel Gijon-villa, was tragically cut short in Omaha, Nebraska. On May 10, 2020, Gijon-Villa was shot and killed in a violent incident that unfolded near 33rd and L Street. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear, but it marked the beginning of a grim and unsettling series of events that would span two states.
Following the fatal shooting,
Gijon-Villa's body was placed in a vehicle by those responsible for his death. In an attempt to conceal the crime, they drove his body over state lines, heading west into Wyoming. The journey came to an abrupt end when the vehicle ran out of gas and was abandoned on the side of Interstate 80 near Rawlins, Wyoming. It was there, on May 11, 2020, that the abandoned car and the body of the young victim were discovered, prompting a multi-state homicide investigation led by the Omaha Police Department.
The investigation quickly led to the identification of two juvenile suspects who were taken into custody in Wyoming. The charges brought against them were for concealing a felony and conspiracy to conceal a felony, reflecting their efforts to hide the evidence of Gijon-Villa's murder.
