In the early evening hours of Friday, July 15, 2005, a sense of normalcy was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 23-year-old Brian L. Walker, a Black male. At approximately 7:08 p.m., Omaha police officers responded to a call of a shooting near the intersection of 42nd and Redman Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Walker suffering from a gunshot wound just west of the intersection.
