On the evening of May 16, 2016, a life was tragically cut short in Omaha, Nebraska. Gustavo Soto, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, was shot and killed near 16th and Yates streets in what authorities believe was a robbery gone wrong. The incident was reportedly orchestrated through social media, with the intent to steal marijuana from Soto.
Three individuals were subsequently arrested and faced first-degree murder charges in connection with the death.
The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Ashley Bordeaux, her 16-year-old brother Antonio Bordeaux, and 18-year-old Karina Rodriguez Lopez. Prosecutors stated that Ashley Bordeaux used her phone to set up the fatal encounter.
During the investigation, authorities mentioned the existence of video surveillance that showed Bordeaux fleeing the scene. All three suspects were denied bond. Antonio Bordeaux was suspected of being the one who fired the gun. The case highlighted the youth of the alleged perpetrators and the serious nature of the crime they were accused of committing.
