Quadrice Barksdale, a 22-year-old African American male from Wilmington, Delaware, was tragically shot and killed on the night of October 20, 2015. Wilmington police responded to a 911 call reporting “a man down” near the intersection of Lower Oak and Marshall Streets at approximately 11:03 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Barksdale suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, marking the 23rd gun-related homicide in Wilmington that year.
