In the early morning hours of October 17, 2021, the life of Marquis Lopez Jr., a 20-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short on the streets of Wilmington, Delaware. At approximately 1:56 a.m., police responded to a call in the 1500 block of West 3rd Street, where they discovered Lopez suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, becoming another victim of the gun violence that had troubled the city.
