On February 25, 2018, Wilmington police responded to a shooting incident at a residence located in the 2300 block of North Market Street. Inside the home, officers discovered the lifeless body of Richard Young, a 38-year-old African American male. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The violent nature of the crime and lack of immediate leads left the case unsolved for nearly five years, despite ongoing efforts by investigators.
