On November 1, 2016, a 31-year-old male, Cyrel Julian “Smurf” Cannon, was shot in front of a residence on the 200 block of East 24th Street in Wilmington, Delaware, around 11 p.m. He sustained a gunshot wound to the head, was transported to Christiana Hospital, and was pronounced dead. Early reports noted his age and gender but initially withheld his name pending notification of next of kin.
