Tommier Dendy, a 30-year-old Black/African American male from Wilmington, Delaware, was killed on Sunday, October 11, 2020, after a daytime shooting on the city's East Side. Wilmington Police were called at about 12:16 p.m. to the 700 block of East 10th Street, where they found Dendy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
At first, the shooting was treated as an active homicide investigation with few details released
publicly. Police identified Dendy the next day and asked anyone with information to contact Detective Matthew Reiss or Delaware Crime Stoppers. Funeral and memorial records later noted that Tommier Di'john Dendy had been born in Newark, Delaware, had gone through the Wilmington public school system, graduated from John Dickinson High School in 2008, and had attended Atlanta Metropolitan State College on a basketball scholarship. His death cut short the life of someone remembered for his love of sports, especially football and basketball.
The case later became part of a much larger investigation into MGS, described by Delaware prosecutors as a violent Wilmington-area gang also known as M-Block Grimy Savages. According to Delaware Department of Justice releases and court records, investigators connected Davon Walker, a member of the MGS affiliate gang Keyzdrive, to several violent crimes tied to a feud with rival gangs. Among the crimes attributed to Walker were the September 2020 killing of Naithan Grzybowski on East 35th Street, the October 2020 killing of Tommier Dendy on East 10th Street, and the October 2020 killing of Eddie Green on North Heald Street.
Authorities said Walker was developed as a suspect through multiple streams of evidence. That evidence included surveillance footage, Walker's Instagram activity, and ballistics analysis. Prosecutors said ballistics linked two weapons in Walker's possession to the murders of Dendy and Green. Walker was identified and arrested through the broader years-long MGS investigation, which involved Wilmington Police, the Delaware Department of Justice, federal partners, the ATF, and the FBI.
Walker was initially indicted in connection with three counts of first-degree murder for his role in the killings of Naithan Grzybowski, Tommier Dendy, and Eddie Green. Through plea negotiations, he pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, and gang participation. In August 2022, he received an agreed-upon sentence of 53 years in prison, followed by probation.
Court records show Walker later sought a sentence modification, arguing for leniency based on remorse, education, rehabilitation efforts, and possible employment opportunities after incarceration. The Delaware Superior Court denied that request in February 2023, finding that the original sentence remained appropriate. By 2023, Delaware officials described the broader MGS prosecution as a four-year effort that ended with convictions against all 20 defendants charged across a series of murders, shootings, robberies, gang offenses, and gun crimes.
