On September 14, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Wilmington police responded to reports of a shooting near East 22nd and Lamotte Streets in the Brandywine Village community. Upon arrival, officers discovered 30-year-old Kajuan Malik Warren suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, where he was later pronounced dead. A 27-year-old woman was also found at the scene with gunshot injuries; she was hospitalized in stable condition.
