On February 18, 2017, 29-year-old John Marcus Fryer was fatally shot in the Coachman's Manor Apartments complex, located in the 1500 block of Surry Court, New Castle, Delaware. The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. as Fryer and his girlfriend were returning to their apartment. An unidentified suspect emerged from the side of the building, fired a single shot at Fryer, and then fled the scene. Despite immediate medical attention, Fryer succumbed to his injuries.
