Jahlil Patton, a 26-year-old Black male from Bear, Delaware, spent the final hours of New Year’s Eve 2019 behind the wheel of a car that would soon veer off course. At approximately 11:12 p.m. on December 31, 2019, patrol officers were called to Taylor Drive in the Beech Hill community near Newark, where they found Patton outside his vehicle after it had crashed along the roadway. He had been shot in the upper body; despite emergency efforts, he later died from his wounds.
