A quiet evening in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was shattered by a sudden and brutal outburst of violence that left two people dead, including a beloved gas station clerk named Subash Ghale. The male victim, along with his co-worker Prayash Baniya, had moved to the city from Detroit, seeking a safer and more peaceful life. They were known and liked by their regular customers at the T-Mart Gas Station on North Miles Street, always ready with a friendly greeting.
The tragic events began to
unfold when 35-year-old Shadrach Peeler fatally shot a woman, Cherie Turner, near a home they shared on Warfield Street. Following this initial act of violence, Peeler proceeded to the T-Mart. There, he opened fire, shooting Ghale, Baniya, and a customer, Nadia Browne. When police responded to the reports of a shooting, they discovered Ghale had been killed. Baniya and Browne were injured but survived the attack.
The investigation quickly led law enforcement to the residence on Warfield Street, where they found Peeler. He was armed but dropped his weapon upon seeing the officers. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody. It was then that the body of Cherie Turner was discovered inside the home. Peeler was subsequently charged with two counts of murder, as well as first and second-degree assault.
