On the night of May 15, 2010, a knock came at the door of 37-year-old Douglas Houser's home in Bear, Delaware. A White / Caucasian male, Houser was at his residence in the Forest Glen community when the unexpected visitors arrived at approximately 11:00 PM. When he answered the door, he was met by individuals who asked for someone Houser did not know.
The encounter quickly turned violent as the suspects forced their way into his home on Rue Madora. Inside, Douglas Houser was shot, and his assailants fled the scene. The shooting resulted in his death, leaving behind a case that would soon go cold.
Despite the investigation that followed, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder. The case remains an unsolved homicide with the New Castle County Police. Authorities have a description of one of the suspects provided by a witness. He was described as a light-toned or possibly mixed-race Black male, standing about 6'2" tall and weighing around 300 pounds. He reportedly had an afro-style haircut that was pulled back into a ponytail.
