On December 22, 2021, at approximately 6:18 p.m., Delaware State Police responded to a reported shooting in the 11000 block of Abbys Way in Bridgeville, Delaware. The residence was occupied by 70-year-old Hilda "Gail" Donaway and her 23-year-old grandson. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Hilda had been fatally shot in the kitchen. Her grandson had escaped unharmed by fleeing through a bedroom window.
