On May 10, 1952, Detective J. Foster King, a 68-year-old city detective and former Tuscaloosa County Sheriff, was fatally shot in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The incident occurred while King and another officer, Homer F. Hubbard, were searching for a suspect who was wanted for shooting another man.
