On October 28, 1974, Officer Barry W. Headricks of the Tucson Police Department lost his life in the line of duty. At the time, Officer Headricks was 27 years old and had been a police officer for five years. He was assigned to the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad and was involved in an undercover narcotics operation.
