On August 11, 2017, 17-year-old Ralph "Li Ralph" Woodfin III was fatally shot on the back porch of a residence in Tarrant, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at 1434 Thomason Avenue. Woodfin, who resided in Tarrant, was the nephew of then-Birmingham mayoral candidate Randall Woodfin.
