On October 23, 2016, 26-year-old Marquest Lamar Allen of Birmingham, Alabama, was tragically killed in a shooting incident. The circumstances surrounding his death were part of a growing wave of gun violence in the city. Allen, who was reportedly involved in an altercation before the shooting, was shot multiple times. Authorities arrived at the scene to find him critically wounded, and despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital.
