In Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday, October 11, 2024, a verbal dispute escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 20-year-old Paul Devaried Terry Jr. The male victim was at a residence in the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North when an argument broke out with another man. During the confrontation, the other individual shot Terry.
Despite his injuries, Terry managed to flee the scene, running to the 300 block of 83rd Street North, where he collapsed inside a shed.
Emergency services were called to the location at approximately 12:19 p.m. Upon their arrival, Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel found Terry unresponsive and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Birmingham Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Their preliminary findings suggested the shooting occurred during the altercation at the initial residence. Following the investigation, police arrested Anthony Rudolfo Major, a 27-year-old resident of Birmingham, in connection with the shooting.
Major has since been charged with murder and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond. While Terry's driver's license was issued in Ozark, Alabama, family members indicated he had been living in Birmingham at the time of his death.
