In the fading daylight of a Wednesday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 11, 2023, the life of 28-year-old Jayvonne David Banks was brought to an abrupt and violent end. Banks, a male resident of the city, was shot and killed during an altercation at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Aspen Run. The incident, which unfolded around 5:10 p.m., drew a significant police presence after officers on a separate service call nearby heard the sound of gunfire.
