On January 11, 2023, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers were present at the Adona Apartments on Aspen Run for an unrelated service call when they heard gunshots within the complex. Upon investigation, they discovered 28-year-old Jayvonne David Banks lying unresponsive on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound. Nearby, an adult male armed with a firearm was taken into custody without incident. A firearm was also found near Banks.
