On June 5, 2023, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to multiple Shot Spotter alerts in the 4600 block of Roscoe Avenue, located in the Kingston community of Birmingham, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Dementrius Orlando Collins unresponsive in a front yard, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
