On March 11, 2023, 53-year-old James Lee Brown Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally struck by a vehicle while standing beside his disabled car in the 100 block of Roebuck Drive. He was awaiting assistance from a friend when an unknown vehicle hit him and fled the scene. Mr. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:02 a.m.
