On December 2, 2023, 24-year-old Courtney Spencer was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. Around 4 p.m., the Birmingham 911 Communications Division received multiple reports of a shootout in the Inglenook Community. East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of 38th Place North, where they discovered a vehicle parked in a residence's driveway.
