On July 26, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., 30-year-old Reco Dewayn Stevenson was fatally shot while seated in his vehicle outside the Mountainside Apartments, located in the 100 block of Penthouse Drive, Birmingham, Alabama. Responding to reports of a person shot, South Precinct officers arrived to find Stevenson unresponsive inside his car, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services pronounced him deceased at the scene.
