On August 25, 1984, a tragic event unfolded at the Guest Service Station near Attalla, Alabama, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. Among the victims were 43-year-old Robert William Payne and his 31-year-old wife, Nancy Payne, who were customers present during the incident. The other victims included 21-year-old Ronald Michael Guest, the son of the station owner, and 51-year-old Wilbur T. Nelson, an employee at the station.
