On November 2, 1924, Chief of Police Henry Ingram of the Attalla Police Department in Alabama was fatally shot while escorting two men he had arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct to jail. During the escort, one of the men produced a firearm and shot Chief Ingram, leading to his immediate death.
