David Loyd Smothers, 40, a white male from Attalla, Alabama, was shot and killed on the morning of October 7, 2025. Police were called around 10 a.m. to the area of Burke Avenue and Osborne Street, where officers found Smothers in a nearby vehicle with fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
