On a summer day, the quiet of Phenix City, Alabama was disturbed by a grim discovery that would remain a mystery for decades. On August 7, 1984, the body of a young White female, Rachel Ann McDaniel, was found off Highway 165. An investigation determined that the incident leading to her death occurred on August 3, 1984, and the cause was tragically identified as strangulation.
