On November 26, 2001, 66-year-old Winnie Johnson was tragically shot to death during a burglary at her home in Sumter County, Alabama. The case remained unsolved for nearly three years until September 8, 2004, when the Sumter County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for the arrest of Willie James Hodges, a resident of Epes, Alabama, charging him with capital murder in connection with Johnson's death.
