On July 10, 2025, a welfare check requested at a home on Samantha Court in Auburn, Alabama, led to a tragic discovery. Inside the residence, police found the bodies of 34-year-old Tyeisha Shanta Williams and 13-year-old Zynniya Wright. Both had been killed by gun violence. The Lee County Coroner pronounced both Williams and Wright deceased at the scene at approximately 2:30 P.M.
Their bodies were subsequently transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for postmortem examinations.
The initial investigation quickly revealed that Williams's three-year-old son, Jibreel Harun, was missing from the home, prompting an immediate Amber Alert. Authorities identified Tyeisha's husband and Jibreel's father, 41-year-old Aaron Dontay Williams, as a person of interest. He was not present at the residence when police arrived and was believed to have taken the child. Williams was described as a Black male, and law enforcement considered him to be armed and dangerous.
A multi-state manhunt ensued for Aaron Williams and the missing child. The search came to an end the following morning, on July 11, 2025, when members of the U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation located and apprehended Williams in Tennessee. The child, Jibreel Harun, was found unharmed and safely recovered. Following his arrest, Aaron Williams waived extradition and was transported back to Auburn. He was subsequently charged with four counts of capital murder and one count of first-degree kidnapping and is being held without bond at the Lee County Jail. The father of Zynniya Wright later stated that he had previously expressed concerns about his daughter's safety in the home due to the suspect's criminal history, which reportedly included an attempted murder charge.
