On October 2, 2013, authorities in Double Springs, Alabama, discovered a car containing the bodies of four individuals, all dead from shotgun wounds. The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Kevin Carey, 39-year-old Kristie Hunt Campbell Hamrick, her ex-husband 30-year-old Robert Samuel Hamrick, and her brother 38-year-old Andy Hunt. All four resided together in Savannah, Tennessee.
