On the morning of September 3, 2023, 60-year-old African American male Stoney Lewis was fatally shot in Montgomery, Alabama. At approximately 5:55 a.m., Montgomery police and fire medics responded to a call in the 1500 block of South Holt Street, located in the city's west side. Upon arrival, they discovered Stoney Lewis with a fatal gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.
In the days following the incident, the Montgomery Police Department identified and arrested a suspect.
