On April 5, 2014, 63-year-old Cha Ya "Jenny" Anders was found deceased inside her business, Ebony Beauty Supply, located at 2913 27th Street North in Birmingham, Alabama. A concerned customer, noticing the store closed with Anders' car parked outside, alerted authorities. Upon arrival, police and paramedics discovered Anders had been fatally shot during an apparent robbery.
