In the spring of 2014, the life of a beloved business owner in Pinson, Alabama, was tragically cut short. Cha Ya "Jenny" Anders, a 63-year-old female, was found deceased on the morning of Saturday, April 5, 2014, inside her North Birmingham beauty supply store, Ebony Beauty Supply. The cause of her death was determined to be gunshot wounds.
Investigators from the Birmingham Police Department quickly began to piece together the events that led to Anders' death.
They believed the motive was robbery. Their investigation into the homicide was aided by a witness from another crime. This witness had seen a woman robbing a nearby Jack's Food Store on the preceding Friday afternoon. The description provided by this witness proved to be a crucial lead in the case.
Based on the witness's description and other evidence gathered at the scene of the homicide, authorities identified a suspect. Bianca Holman, a 25-year-old woman from Birmingham, was arrested and subsequently charged with capital murder and robbery in connection with the death of Cha Ya Anders. Another witness had also reported seeing a woman matching Holman's description at the beauty supply store around the time of the murder.
