In the summer of 2019, a domestic dispute in Birmingham, Alabama, escalated into a tragic act of violence that claimed the life of 28-year-old Jameria Howard. On the night of August 4th, an argument erupted between Howard and her boyfriend, Danny Hagler, at their residence on 30th Street South. The disagreement took a fatal turn when Hagler produced a firearm and shot Howard.
Following the shooting, Hagler fled the scene in a stolen vehicle, leaving Howard gravely wounded in a parking
lot. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Howard was rushed to a nearby hospital, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
A short time after the initial incident, police received another report of a shooting in the 600 block of 5th Place Pratt. Upon arrival, they discovered Hagler, who had sustained a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Subsequent investigation by the Birmingham Police Department revealed the grim sequence of events. Detectives determined that after shooting Jameria Howard, Danny Hagler had driven to the second location and taken his own life. The case was officially classified as a murder-suicide, stemming from the initial lover's quarrel. The investigation concluded that Hagler was the sole perpetrator, and with his death, the case was closed.
