when the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a report of a man armed with a gun seen running along Old Bagley Road. As deputies were searching for the armed individual, a second, more alarming call came in, reporting that a woman had been found shot inside a vehicle at a residence in the 8500 block of Old Bagley Road. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Brandi Michelle Allen deceased at the scene.
While investigators were processing the scene of Brandi's death, the case took a grim and sudden turn. A man, later identified as 43-year-old Mark David Allen, Brandi's estranged husband, placed a call to 911. In a brief and chilling confession, he admitted to shooting the victim before providing his own location at a residence in the 5000 block of Cindy Lane and disconnecting the call. When deputies arrived at the Cindy Lane address, they found Mark David Allen deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
