On August 22, 2014, 75-year-old white male Garvin John “Al” Albertson was found deceased in his home located in the 100 block of Lee County Road 40 in Opelika, Alabama. Two concerned individuals, unable to reach him by phone, visited his residence and discovered his body, subsequently contacting the Lee County Sheriff's Office at approximately 3:16 p.m. Initially reported as a possible suicide, the investigation quickly shifted focus as evidence suggested foul play.
