On February 12, 2015, 21-year-old Brittany Nicole Ford was inside her apartment on the 7500 block of 66th Court Way South in Birmingham, Alabama, when she was struck by a stray bullet. The gunfire originated from a confrontation outside her residence in the Marks Village housing community. Ford sustained critical injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital, where she underwent multiple surgeries. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries on February 26, 2015.
