Emell Hill, a 23-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on October 13, 2019, in the South Chicago neighborhood. Hill was walking in the 8300 block of South Burnham Avenue around 7:30 p.m. when an unidentified man approached him and fired multiple shots. Hill was struck in the lower back and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
