Gregory Steele Jr., a 33-year-old man, was shot in Bessemer, Alabama, in the hours around midnight as the weekend turned into Sunday, May 17, 2015. Police were called to the area of Highway 150 and 9th Avenue, near the Highway 150 Plaza shopping center, where the violence unfolded in a parking lot that should have been quiet at that hour.
