Tafari Shalamon Simmons, a 32-year-old man from Bessemer, Alabama, was fatally shot on October 6, 2017, in what authorities later determined to be a homicide. The incident occurred late in the evening, when police were called to a residence in Bessemer following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Simmons suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save him, Simmons was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.
